Trial run conducted on newly laid broad gauge section

CUDDALORE: A trial run was conducted with a diesel locomotive on the newly-laid broad gauge section between Cuddalore and Villupuram on Saturday.

It was done under the supervision of officials including Chief Project Manger Pradip Gaur, Additional General Manager V.K. Reddyand Project Officer R.N. Das.

The engine was decorated with garlands and banana leaves.

The officials said that the track was good enough and services between Villupuramm and Mayiladuthurai were likely to commence from June.

Now, the focus was on providing basic amenities for passengers, they said.

At Thiruvathigai, near Panruti, the residents made a representation to the officials to set up a railway gate there.
