Chief Minister M Karunanidhi on Monday said Rs 200 crore has been allocated for initiating relief works across the State.
Reviewing the flood relief works with the concerned department heads today at the Secretariat, he said that the loss has been estimated at Rs 1500 crore and detailed estimates are expected from the respective District Collectors and department heads in a couple of days.

He said that the government would send a report to the Centre seeking financial assistance. The District Collectors have been asked to take up flood relief work on a warfooting, he added.
It may be noted that Chief Minister M Karunanidhi visited the flood hit areas in Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, Villupuram and Cuddalore districts and consoled the affected people.
PWD Minister Durai Murugan, Highways Minister Saminathan, Chief Secretary L K Tripathy and Commissioner for Revenue Administration and Secretaries of Finanace, Revenue, PWD, Highways participated at the review meet.
